Installation Art

During my time as a student I experimented with ephemeral installations and sculpture. Several pieces were exhibited across the University of Dundee, Dundee Botanic Gardens & Royal Scottish Academy Edinburgh.

This particular installation featured dirt and twigs collected from the countryside where I grew up.

Over winter months walking through the forest, I was drawn to the sounds of cracking twigs that echoed above the quiet within the trees. This was recreated in a small claustrophobic room within a building. Dramatic lighting and dead rosebay plants suspended above helped create this atmosphere. Unsettling but calm.
