This month I’ve been focusing on developing some ideas I have in my personal art practice. Feeling inspired by a lot of tropical designs at the moment, and snakes are a reoccurring feature in my sketchbook. I’m exploring fabrics at the moment as well, thanks to some incredible artists I follow on Instagram, who produce such inspiring fabric work. (Sandra Cassidy’s work is beautiful, follow her if you’re on Instagram.) I’ve also had another commission, which I love doing. I’m keen to try more animals in the same style with wax coloured pencils so watch this space…
Tropical snake painting – Acrylic on A4 paper using a tiny, thin brush. Took a long time to complete, but it was relaxing. I prefer painting with a smaller brush.
Some mixed media collages… These were a lot of fun! At university I was still producing thick and detailed sketchbooks while gradually increasing my use of a blog. These days a lot of inspiration is stored on social media etc, and I don’t go through as many sketchbooks as I used to. I would print out hundreds of photos of things I liked, and lots of detailed progress/ documentation work. I now have an abundance of photographs, and plan on using them for collages.
Latest commission; the lovely Jasper & Daisy. Coloured wax pencils on A2 paper. Different composition for me, which was a nice change. I also received a photo of the two of them admiring their portraits! 🙂
Because it’s too much fun not to – I ordered a new batch of business cards from MOO with some updated work on them. In love!
Thanks for visiting!
